Number One Tip for Starting a Forum
If you are starting an internet forum or message board, here is my number one tip: Post on your own forum.
Users will not think your forum is worth using if you do not use it yourself.
Also, the hardest part of getting a forum going is that nobody will post a lot if there are not already people posting. You can beat the catch-22 by posting on it yourself.
I suggest you try to read every post on your forum, at least when it is still new. Try to answer questions and improve the experiences of your users. This will make people want to join and stay.
What do you think?

I had a forum about a year ago, and it got hacked. It was a phpbb solution. That caused me to get booted by my host, which was a crappy host to begin with. But anyway, any tips to keep that from happening again?

Thanks for the advice! I always make sure to check all the posts and post as often as I can but for some reason I didn’t get to far with it… but I am still working things out.
