For a long time, MySpace has been considered a great place to market and promote websites and internet products. As MySpace has grown in popularity, the popularity of marketing on MySpace has grown.

Personally, I think marketing on MySpace has already lost most of its value. And it will continue to lose whatever value it has left. I have many reasons for thinking that.

For one, MySpace has become overrun with spam. MySpace has so much spam that users have begun ignoring promotional messages. Users no longer take messages or comments seriously on MySpace. By default, most users assume that most messages, comments, and requests are spam.

Also, trying to use MySpace to promote your website or product has become mostly useless because MySpace has added many filters. MySpace automatically bans accounts that send out too many requests, messages, or comments. You can no longer get a bot to send out unlimited requests each day. Also, MySpace now uses redirects for links so the links do not have SEO value anymore.

Also, most marketers have always had trouble with MySpace simply because of the type of users. MySpace users tend not to buy anything, and they quickly leave most websites. In other words, MySpace users have always been poor quality traffic.

You can still promote some on MySpace, but just know that it is drying up. I highly recommend you try utilizing other social networking sites such as Facebook. Also, you may want to try new types of social sites such as social bookmarking websites like StumbleUpon.

Of course, spam usually never works well. As a rule of thumb, you will get more done if you actually participate in these social community. That will get people more interested in you, your website, and your product. Try to network not spam.
