You may consider adding forums to your website. Personally, I think it is usually a good idea.
The disadvantages of forums is that they take a let of time and effort to get going. It takes a while to build up a loyal membership and get steady activity. Also, the forums will usually require daily supervision. You will have to get rid of spam and perform other duties as administrator.
However, the advantages of having a successful forum are great. The users come back often, the content generates itself, and forums begin to start promoting themselves. Users tell their friends, you get lots of links, and search engines love all the fresh content.
What do you think?

If you have an established brand I would recommend a forum. For 80% of the webmasters out there looking to expand, I think it would do more damage than it helped.

I think forums are a great idea, I currently run a small computer forum that gives advice on Hardware, software and internet support as well as help on web site development. It only has about 60 members and to be honest I probably post on there more than anyone asking for help, but there a great place to meet people with the same interest as yourself.
