Social Networking Promotion
I use social networking websites to promote my own sites. While this method usually will not get you tons of traffic, it will get you some. It can be a great way to get a new website started.
Like all promotion methods, you will be wasting your time if your site is not good. The better your site is, the more people will come. Once you get some traffic to a great site, word of mouth will lead to a growing flow of traffic. In contrast, no matter how much traffic you send to a lame site, you will never build a constant stream of traffic.
The reason social networking can be good is that you will be able to contact a bunch of your friends and other contacts with a few clicks. They will be interested to see your site. Encourage them to share it with their friends.
Remember, do not spam. Spam is often counterproductive, and it can get you banned from these sites.

Social Bookmarking Websites
I signed up to a bunch of new social bookmarking websites today. Social bookmarking sites are sites that allow users to easily post sites that they like to share with the other users.
Social bookmarking sites can be used as a good method to promote your own web pages, because you can bookmark them and share them. Other people may come as result, and if your page is good they will bookmark it too and share it with their friends.
Here is a list of the sites I joined today:
http://www.furl.net/
http://reddit.com/
http://ma.gnolia.com/
http://de.lirio.us/
http://myweb2.search.yahoo.com/
http://www.simpy.com/
http://www.newsvine.com/
http://bluedot.us/
http://www.blinklist.com/
http://www.netvouz.com/
http://www.spurl.net/
http://www.dzone.com/
http://www.clipmarks.com/
http://www.shoutwire.com/
http://www.backflip.com/
http://www.bibsonomy.org/
http://www.diigo.com/
Also, I was already a member of these major bookmarking sites:
http://digg.com/
http://del.icio.us/
http://www.stumbleupon.com/
Remember, don’t waste your time using these bookmarking sites to try an promote bad quality web pages. They only will work if you have a great web page to share, because then the members will keep sharing the page with each other. The whole point of social bookmarking is to help users find great websites based on other people’s ratings. If your site is no good, then at most a few people will come and they will not share it. The trick is to have a great web pages that will keep getting shared over and over because they are so great that lots of people get told and then continue telling others.
PPC Ads
I have been running a PPC ad campaign with Yahoo Search Marketing recently. I have been happy with the results so far, even on my websites whose main income stream is AdSense.
By placing low bids, you may be able to make more money publishing PPC ads than you will spend advertising with PPC. Even if it costs you a little more, it may be worth it to get your website off its feet.
Before starting a PPC campaign, make sure you have already made a great website. Don’t waste your time or money advertising a lame, low-quality website. Too many fools think they can make money by throwing up a junky website and marketing it.

Ask For Feedback
Here is a nice tip for you to improve your website or internet business. Ask for feedback! Ask your customers or website visitors to give you comments and suggestions. They can tell you what they don’t like about your website, and they can tell you what new features they would like to see. This is good in two ways. Firstly, it helps you understand your customers desires better. Secondly, it gives you free suggestions that are usually very specific.

The Best Way To Market Your Website
Internet marketing is probably the most noted part of internet business. Just about anyone can create a website and place ads on it or sell something. However, the person will not make much money without a whole lot of traffic.
In my opinion, the best way to market a website and get traffic is to have a great website. If you have a great website it won’t take much other marketing work to get traffic to your website. People will tell their friends about your website. They will come back themselves. They will post links to you on their websites, blogs and online profile. They will bookmark your website. Your website will naturally get traffic and higher search engine rankings.
In contrast, if you have a poor quality website, then your other marketing efforts will go to waste. You’ll have to work for every visitor you get, because people will quickly leave your website and never come back. Nobody will bother linking to you.

Use Original Content
There are plenty of articles and other content on the internet the you can find that you are allowed to republish on your website. Additionally, there are always those people who will steal content that they aren’t allowed to use, despite it being copyright infringement.
I recommend you do not use other websites’ content, whether you have permission or not. You need original content. Search engines are smart enough to know when a page has very little original content, and won’t rank it high. Also, why would your users come to your website if it only republishes content that can be found elsewhere.
If you want to have a successful website, you need to have original content and provide your users with something they want that they cannot get just as easily somewhere else.

Tip: Don’t Quit Your Day Job
If you are thinking about getting started with internet business. Don’t expect to get rich quick. If you are considering any get-rich-quick-schemes, stop it. Starting an online business takes a lot of time and effort, especially if you are doing it with a low financial budget. Instead of quitting your current job, just get started with internet business in your spare time. Even if you can only put one or two hours per day towards it, that’s fine. Then, as you start to make more money online, you can start to work less. You can keep doing that until you are making a sufficient income online. Don’t quit your day job until you are making a enough online that you can pay all of your bills.
If you don’t have a regular job, get one before you get involved with internet business.
Domain Names02 Oct 2007 08:21 pm
Daily Tip: Buy Your Own Domain Name
Today I want to give you the following tip: Buy your own domain name. There are some websites out there that will let you have a site as a subdomain or folder on their domain for free, such as blogspot. However, a domain name costs less than $10 per year. It’s completely unprofessional not to get your own domain name. Additionally, your customers and visitors will have a hard time remembering the domain if you don’t use your own. You can buy a domain name from places like godaddy and namecheap, among many others. Do it, if you haven’t already.

Tip Of The Day
Today I just want to give a quick to all of you online business people and webmasters. The tip is this: Make a quality website.
So many people try to make money online without providing anything. You cannot do that well. You make money by doing business, and that depends on your providing something. In the case of the internet, you need to provide a quality website.
Don’t waste your time or money trying to market a poor quality website. Instead, make a great website first. Make the best website you can. Don’t be lazy, because laziness won’t make you successful. A great website will help by promoting itself, because people will tell their friends, link to you, and such. If you have a bad website, most of time people will just hit the big red X when they come to your website.
